SCHEMES/ACTIVITIES OF DIST. SOCIAL WELFARE OFFICE

 

 

  1. TAMIL NADU GOVT. INTERCASTE MARRIAGE ASSISTANCE SCHEME 

           

This scheme is intended to encourage intercaste marriage so as to eradicate untouchability and reduce the caste barriers. Under this scheme a sum of Rs. 20000/-(Rs.10000 as cash and Rs.10000 as N.S.C) is given to beneficiary if one of the couple(bride/bridegroom) belongs to S.C/S.T. and Rs.10000(Rs.3000 as cash and Rs.7000 as N.S.C) is given to the beneficiaries if the marriage is between B.C(M.B.C) and O.C.   
 

      Norms:

              1.      The bride and bridegroom should belong to different categories i.e

      S.C/S.T,B.C/M.B.C,O.C

         2.    The age of the bride should be between 20 and 30 years of age.

         3.    The application should be submitted within 2 years from the date of marriage.

 

    2. DR. DHARMAMBAL AMMAIYAR MEMORIAL WIDOW REMARRIAGE 

        SCHEME 

                  

This scheme is intended to encourage widow remarriage. Under this scheme a sum of  Rs.10000/(Rs.3000  as   cash and Rs.7000 as N.S.C.) is given to each beneficiary.   

 

      Norms:  

               1. The age of the bride should be between 20 and 35 years.

         2. The application should be submitted within 6 months from the date of remarriage.

 

   3. E.V.R.MANIAMMAIYAR MEMORIAL WIDOW DAUGHTER MARRIAGE

        ASSISTANCE SCHEME.

                            

This scheme is intended to help the poor widows to get their daughters married.   Under this  scheme a   sum of Rs. 10000/- is given to each beneficiary as grant.    

 

      Norms:

        1. The age of the bride should be between 20 and 30 years.

        2. The family income should not exceed Rs.12000/- per year.

        3. The application should be submitted before the date of marriage.

 

     4ANNAI THERESA MEMORIAL ORPHAN GIRL MARRIAGE ASSISTANCE 

          SCHEME.

 

            This scheme is intended to help the poor orphan girl to get married. Under this 

scheme a  sum of Rs.10000/-is given to each beneficiary as grant. 

  Norms:

        1.  The age of the bride should be between 20 and 30 years.

        2.  The family income should not exceed Rs. 12000/-.

              3.  The application should be submitted before the date of marriage.       

 

      5.  FREE SUPPLY OF NOTEBOOKS/TEXTBOOKS TO  WIDOWS CHILDREN 

          SCHEME

 

       Free Notebooks/Textbooks are supplied to the children of poor widows.

      To avail benefit under this scheme the annual family income should not exceed Rs. 12000/-  

 

6.  SUPPLY OF FREE SEWING MACHINE SCHEME  

         

  Under this scheme Free Sewing Machine is supplied.

  Norms:

1. The applicant should be Destitute / widows / Handicapped(Both men  and women).

2. The annual income should not exceed Rs. 12000/

3. The age should be between 20 and 40.  

 

     7. TAMIL NADU GOVT. GIRL CHILD PROTECTION SCHEME

              

       This scheme is categorized in to  two. 

1.      Scheme I

       Under this scheme Rs.22,200 is deposited in the name of child.  

              Norms:

1.    The parent should have only one female child and no male child

2.    The parent (either mother or father) should undergo sterilization.

3.    The annual family income should not exceed Rs. 50000/-

4.    The application should be submitted before one year from the date of birth of child

 

2.      Scheme II

          Under this scheme Rs.15,200/- is deposited in the name of each child.

         Norms:

      1.  The parent should have only two female children and no male child .

      2.  The parent (either mother or father) should undergo sterilization.

      3.  The annual family income should not exceed Rs. 12000/-.

      4. The application should be submitted before one year from the birth of second child.

 

     8.  GOVT. ORPHANAGES     

            Two orphanages one at Thickanamcode and another at Nagercoil are functioning. The maximum strength of Thickanamcode is 100 and in Nagercoil  250.

 

      Norms:

1.    The orphan children/children of mentally retarded parents/children of life sentenced prisoners / children of lepers are admitted in this orphanages.

2.    The annual family income should not exceed Rs. 12000/- 

 

     9.  TAILORING TRAINING INSTITUTE 

            Two Tailoring Training Institute one at Kesavanputhoor(S.C. Centre) and another at Eathamozhy Puthukudiruppu(B.C. Centre) are functioning.  The trainees are given a monthly stipend of Rs.30/-.
            The annual income of the applicant should not exceed Rs. 12000/- 

 

    10.  MOOVALUR RAMAMIRTHAM AMMAIYAR NINAIVU THIRUMANA NITHIYUTHAVI THITTAM

            The scheme is intended to help the poor mother to get married her daughter with the help of the assistance given by the Government. Under a sum of Rs. 15000 is given to beneficiary

 

           Norms:

           1. The  age of the bride should be between 18 to 30 years.

           2. The family income should not exceed Rs. 12000 per year

           3. The application should be submitted before the date of Marriage.
